The gifts that are special to me are the Gifts of Life my 15 year old daughter, Katrina, gave on January 22, 2004, to unknown recipients. She is my hero. From that date, life has been so different – going through the painful loss; the loneliness; finding out that your address book changes; and understanding that it is not time that heals but what you do with that time. Katrina's ongoing special gift to me is giving me the courage to start my new journey, to change that which needs changing and strengthen what is good within me. Katrina has given me hope.

My married son always puts a lot of thought, effort and time into gift selections. He thinks expensive is better, and searches for the best. I have found the most inexpensive little gifts I treasure the most. Still given with thought and care, but more meaningful to me than a certain name brand gift. I certainly appreciate all gifts, but the special ones are usually the carefully selected small, inexpensive or handmade gifts.
