How Do You Feel Food Brings People Together?
Check out what our readers have to say...
Even late bloomers in the kitchen, including myself, will probably agree that there is nothing better than food to bring family and friends together. Of course, for those who will never find the kitchen to be a happy place, a restaurant with good food and even more importantly, a great atmosphere seems to do the trick! Most importantly, with everyone's busy schedules, it seems like dinner is the only time we are all together. As our children get older, their lives are filled with school, activities and friends. It feels like we are going in four different directions at all times. Even though sometimes I feel like the "Food Police", forcing our two boys to sit down for a family meal, once we are all together, nothing on the outside seems to matter, just the four of us sitting around our family table. We always take time to share and "update" each other about our daily activities. It is my favorite time of day. In a crazy and busy world, it is our time for a little stress-free living, a time to relax, give thanks and remember what is important...our family. Nancy, Brooklyn Park, MN - Winner
We tend to celebrate the big and not so big occasions in our house with food. Naturally, food brings our family together†for what we consider to be "big" celebrations like birthday's†and holiday's, but it is also the not so big occasions that have become special to me. The†first day of school, a great report card or a goal†in last nights soccer game are BIG reasons for us to go out for dinner or make a special meal at home. This gives†our family an added reason to reflect back on the day or event that brings us together. Nightly family dinners are routine in our house, and I cherish each and everyone of them. It is the BIG celebrations that bring us out of our box and give us reason to†make the moment larger than we normally would, with food as our center piece. Jenny, Lakeville, MN
